A regular meeting of the Business Council was held in the Textile sector

On 12.11.2022, in Blagoevgrad, a regular meeting was held Business council concerning the Textile sector in the border regions of Blagoevgrad, Haskovo, Kardzhali and Smolyan, and the activity is carried out under the project "Business Council - BC 6275" financed by the INTERREG V/A GREECE-BULGARIA 2014-2020 program, Subsidy contract No. B6.3a. 18/13.04.2021

The meeting was attended by 5 of the representatives of the sector from the border regions of Haskovo, Kardjali, Blagoevgrad and Smolyan. The meeting of the Textile Business Council was held in hall 1, located at 32 Todor Aleksandrov St. in the city of Blagoevgrad. The same was provided technically, being equipped - multimedia, portable computer, printer, microphone/s and sound system, as well as information boards, banner and presentation materials, according to the requirements of the Communication and Publicity Guide of the Interreg V/A Greece-Bulgaria 2014 program -2020. In addition, disinfectants were provided, as well as water, coffee and tea to ensure the event's coffee break.

During the Business Council meeting, the new members introduced themselves by giving a brief account of their business. The discussion that arose was regarding the avalanche increase in production and sales of textile products every year.

In this regard, the huge impacts on the environment were discussed - the greenhouse emissions of the textile industry are more than those of the aviation, rail transport and sea shipping sectors combined.

The problem concerning the measures that Bulgaria, as a member of the EU, implements regarding the promotion of the circular approach and our lagging behind in introducing active legislative measures to speed up the process was discussed.

In the context of the above, the BS in Textiles wants to synthesize measures to promote the circular economy in terms of textile waste, while the same are synchronized with their activity without harming them.

On a general basis, it was decided to introduce measures to promote the circular economy in the Textile sector.
