A regular meeting of the Business Council was held in the RES sector

On 03.12.2022 from 14:00 in the city of Blagoevgrad, a regular meeting of the Business Council was held in the sector of renewable and energy sources in the border regions of Blagoevgrad, Haskovo, Kardjali and Smolyan, and the activity is carried out under the project "Business Council - BC 6275" financed by the INTERREG program V/A GREECE-BULGARIA 2014-2020, Subsidy contract No. B6.3a.18/13.04.2021. The meeting was attended by representatives of the RES sector from the border regions of Haskovo, Kardjali, Blagoevgrad and Smolyan. The meeting of the business council started on time in present mode. The meeting was held in Hall 1 located at 32 Todor Aleksandrov St. in the city of Blagoevgrad.

At today's meeting of the BC in the RES sector, the discussion took place under the sign of the energy crisis in Europe, including and in Bulgaria. One of the BC members explained that the cost of producing electricity from renewable sources has fallen dramatically over the past decade, and today electricity production from new solar and wind power plants in Germany, for example, is cheaper than that from fossil fuels fuels (in the context of the gas crisis).

In addition, the fact that the development and spread of renewable energy technologies, however, is often hindered by a number of administrative procedures and restrictions such as a long process of including the capacities in the grid, requiring a number of documents at the counter (lack of online application), obtaining a building permit in some regions takes more than 6 months and this has a negative impact on the expected return on investment. However, the use of RES helps to reduce energy dependence and has a role in maintaining the price levels of energy at the regional and local level.

The BC in the RES sector decided at its next regular meeting to discuss what proposals regarding the easing of administrative procedures to bring forward and submit to the relevant administrations.
