On 26.11.2022 from 14:00 in the city of Blagoevgrad, a regular meeting of the Business Council was held in the sector of renewable and energy sources in the border regions of Blagoevgrad, Haskovo, Kardjali and Smolyan, and the activity is carried out under the project "Business Council - BC 6275" financed by the INTERREG program V/A GREECE-BULGARIA 2014-2020, Subsidy contract No. B6.3a.18/13.04.2021. Six representatives of the RES sector from the border regions of Haskovo, Kardzhali, Blagoevgrad and Smolyan attended the meeting thus organized. The meeting of the business council started on time in present mode. The meeting was held in Hall 1 located at 32 Todor Aleksandrov St. in the city of Blagoevgrad.

The free discussion at today's meeting was in the context of the new EU requirements, according to which after 2026 all new public buildings in the union, and after 2029 all residential ones, will be obliged to include photovoltaic systems on their roofs. According to the representatives of sector in Bulgaria, regulatory changes will have to be adopted to ease the permitting regime for such installations, and systems and regulations for the recycling of photovoltaics are also to be introduced.

In conclusion, the members of the BC on RES are of the opinion that a balance should be sought between all energy sources. Renewable energy cannot solve all our problems, but it is important that it be an increasing part of our energy mix. It is a local resource and gives us the necessary independence of decisions, but it is also the energy sector that creates the most jobs. In connection with everything described above, BS in the RES sector is of the opinion that, due to the growing interest among citizens, an opportunity should be provided for a larger-scale information campaign in which local authorities (experts and representatives from the sector) also participate. BS will make a proposal to organize informational meetings in places with interested citizens.
