A regular meeting of the Business Council in the Sustainable Tourism sector was held

On 19.11.2022 from 13:00 in the city of Blagoevgrad, a regular meeting of the Business Council in the Tourism sector was held in the border regions of Blagoevgrad, Haskovo, Kardzhali and Smolyan, and the activity is carried out under the project "Business Council - BC 6275" financed by the INTERREG V/A program GREECE-BULGARIA 2014-2020, Subsidy contract No. B6.3a.18/13.04.2021.

The meeting was attended by six representatives of the Tourism Sector from the border regions of Haskovo, Kardjali, Blagoevgrad and Smolyan. The meeting of the Tourism Business Council started on time in attendance mode.

The moderator of the event welcomed everyone present by giving a brief presentation of the project idea and program, leaving a few minutes to introduce the new members.

According to the representatives of the sector present, the biggest challenge facing the sector remains the global crises – the military actions in Ukraine, the negative effects of the pandemic, the disrupted supply chains and the resulting inflation.

According to one of the members of the BS present, it is important to initiate legal changes in the normative framework for categorization, as well as to change the rules of operation of the National Council for Tourism in order to support the development of the tourism sector. As well as that more serious rights should be delegated to the Consultative Council on tourism issues in the formation and implementation of the tourism policy of the Municipality, and not as now - things should be formal.

The problem of the lack of seasonal workers was also a subject of discussion, with another member of the BS noting that often the programs for the qualification and retraining of workers start in the spring of the following year, instead of immediately after the summer season.
