Discussion about Kavala Expo recycling industry
On September 30, 2023, a Business Council meeting was held at the Kavala Expo, a waste management sector dedicated to the challenges and opportunities in the recycling industry. The event gathered 8 on -site and 2 online participants in order to discuss the problems arising from the legal framework, operational difficulties and high costs in the sector, as well as to find joint solutions to overcome them.
The main focus of discussions were the laws of recyclingS Participants highlighted the complexity and consequences of the current normative acts, identifying challenges such as compliance requirements, frequent regulatory changes and administrative burden. These factors significantly contribute to operational difficulties and increase the cost of recycling businesses.
The seminar also paid attention to Operational difficulties and high costsS Challenges related to logistics, infrastructure restrictions and technological capabilities were discussed. Participants emphasized the significant costs of maintaining equipment, labor and waste disposal fees that put pressure on the profitability of recycling enterprises.
In search of joint decisions, discussions focused on the ability to build collaborative strategies. Ideas for creating alliance, consortia or branch associations were exchanged to work together for advocacy for policy reforms, sharing good practices and bringing up resources to overcome operational and financial barriers over the recycling industry.
Organized by the Development of Culture Tourism Environment - DE. Cu.T.e. Within the framework of the Business Council-BC 6275 project, funded under the Interreg V/A Greece-Bulgaria 2014-2020 program (Subsidy Contract №B6.3A.18/13.04.2021), The Kavala Expo meeting provided a valuable platform for the exchange of opinions and identifying key challenges to the recycling sector. The topics discussed and proposed joint approaches can serve as a basis for future initiatives aimed at sustainable development of the industry.
