Study of technological innovation and workforce cooperation in the tourism sector

On June 27, 2023, a Business Council meeting was held at Cafe Aparto, Kavala, Organized by the Development of Culture Tourism Environment - DE. Cu.T.e. Under the project “Business Council-BC 6275”, funded by the Interreg V/A Greece-Bulgaria 2014-2020, SubSidy Contract №B6.3A.18/13.04.2021. Guided by Mrs. Zervaki, the meeting deepened in the integration of new technologies and workforce cooperation as strategies to improve the tourism sector. The attendees discussed the implementation of innovative technologies to create new client experiences and have studied opportunities for cooperation with Bulgaria to deal with labor shortages.

Seven people and five online took part in the meeting. Ms. Zervaki runs the discussions about using new technologies such as an added reality, virtual reality and mobile applications for creating compelling and personalized tourists experiences. Participants have studied innovative solutions to increase customer engagement and satisfaction.

The attendees emphasized the challenges of labor shortages in the tourism sector, including the lack of qualified staff and seasonal employment fluctuations. Ms. Zervaki moderates discussions about potential strategies to deal with these challenges, including training of workforce and cooperation with Bulgaria to exchange workers.

The session focuses on the potential benefits of collaboration between Greece and Bulgaria to deal with common challenges in the tourism sector. Participants discussed the possibility of exchanging workers to fill in empty jobs, as well as the sharing of best practices and resources to increase the overall competitiveness of the tourist industries of both countries.

Ms. Zervaki repeated the importance of working in a network and exchange of knowledge within the project. Participants have studied cross -border cooperation opportunities, joint initiatives and collaborative projects aimed at stimulating innovation and growth in the tourism sector.
