The last regular meeting of the Business Council in the Agro-food industry was held
On 12.04.2023 at 14:00 in the meeting hall of the Municipality of Kirkovo, the last regular meeting of the Business Council in the Agri-food sector in the border regions of Blagoevgrad, Haskovo, Kardjali and Smolyan was held, and the activity is carried out under the project "Business Council – BC 6275” financed by the INTERREG V/A GREECE-BULGARIA 2014-2020 program, Subsidy contract No. B6.3a.18/13.04.2021.
The meeting was attended by five representatives of the sector from the border regions of Haskovo, Kardjali, Blagoevgrad and Smolyan. The hall for holding the meeting was secured technically, being equipped - multimedia, portable computer, printer, as well as information boards, banner and presentation materials, according to the requirements of the Communication and Publicity Guide of the Interreg V/A Greece-Bulgaria 2014-2020 program . In addition, disinfectants were provided, as well as water, coffee and tea to ensure the event's coffee break.
The moderator of the event welcomed all those present and started the event by making a brief presentation of the Regulations for the work of BS in the Agro-food sector.
The highlight of the open discussion was the new Strategic Plan for the Development of Agriculture and Rural Areas 2023-2027, which will be of key importance for the development of rural areas in the coming years.
One of the main recommendations laid down in the strategic plan is the promotion of various forms of cooperation between different farmers.
As noted by a member of the council, who was present at the meeting, in the municipality of Kirkovo there is an increase in interest in beekeeping. In view of the fact that most of the farms are small - with no more than 5-6 to 10 hives, the beekeepers in the area have long been talking about a cooperative - the need of the people is aimed at providing support and stimulation, respectively increasing food security .
In this regard, it is necessary to build rules for the work of the future association. At the suggestion of a member of the council, it was decided to seek the assistance of the municipality for the regulation and management of the cooperative.
