A regular meeting of the Business Council was held in the Textile sector in the village of Smilyan

On 25.03.2023 at 09:30 in the village of Smilyan, a regular meeting of the Business Council concerning the Textile sector was held in the border regions of Blagoevgrad, Haskovo, Kardzhali and Smolyan, and the activity is carried out under the project "Business Council - BC 6275" financed from the INTERREG V/A GREECE-BULGARIA 2014-2020 program, Subsidy contract No. B6.3a.18/13.04.2021.

Five representatives of the sector from the border regions of Haskovo, Kardzhali, Blagoevgrad and Smolyan attended the meeting. The meeting of the Textile Business Council was held in the "Prof. Asen Zlatarov 1927", Smilyan village. It was provided technically, being equipped - multimedia, portable computer, printer, as well as information boards, banner and presentation materials, according to the requirements of the Communication and Publicity Guide of the Interreg V/A Greece-Bulgaria 2014-2020 program. In addition, disinfectants were provided, as well as water, coffee and tea to ensure the event's coffee break.

The moderator of the event welcomed all the attendees by making a brief presentation of the Rules of Procedure of the BS in the Textile sector. After that, a free discussion started on issues of BS members.

The focus of today's meeting was the issue of the waste that the textile industry generates. The sector is extremely well developed in the district and there are quite a few small and medium enterprises that contribute to the development of the economy in the district.

The representatives of the sector present expressed their fears of environmental pollution if the local authority does not react and adequate measures are not taken to treat the waste generated by the enterprises.

The project management team has undertaken together with the local authority to prepare a short information campaign in the form of brochures listing tips for the correct treatment of textile waste to be distributed among local businesses and thus reduce the negative impact on the environment.
