The meeting was attended by 6 representatives from the Waste Management sector from the border regions of Haskovo, Kardjali, Blagoevgrad and Smolyan. The "Rotary" hall in the "Kyparis Alpha" hotel - Smolyan was engaged. It was technically secured, being equipped with: multimedia, laptop computer, printer, microphone/s and sound system, as well as information boards, banner and presentation materials, according to the requirements of the Interreg V/A Greece-Bulgaria Program Communication and Publicity Guide 2014-2020. In addition, disinfectants were provided, as well as water, coffee, tea to ensure the coffee break of the event.

The moderator of the event welcomed everyone present, after which time was taken to introduce the new members. Finally, a proposal was made for the agenda of the meeting and the free discussion began.

The topic of the free discussion was the lack of waste management habits among Bulgarian citizens. Unfortunately, most households do not separate the waste they generate.

Council members note that they encounter a lot of mistrust from people - it is often believed that waste that is collected separately ends up being collected together, thus rendering the whole idea of separate collection meaningless. Despite the claim of local authorities that citizens are informed about waste collection processes, people's mistrust is still noticeable and this is one of the main reasons why they do not separate their rubbish.

The meeting attendees discussed the development of a large-scale online campaign to promote household and SME waste management. Recommendations were given for the separate collection and recycling of household, textile and non-hazardous industrial waste.

The council participants commented on the waste management policies and suggestions were made on which to emphasize when preparing the publications for the online campaign.
