A regular meeting of the Business Council was held in the RES sector in Simitli

On 25.02.2023 from 15:00 in the town of Simitli, a regular meeting of the Business Council was held in the sector of renewable and energy sources in the border regions of Blagoevgrad, Haskovo, Kardjali and Smolyan, and the activity is carried out under the project "Business Council - BC 6275" financed by the INTERREG program V/A GREECE-BULGARIA 2014-2020, Subsidy contract No. B6.3a.18/13.04.2021.

Five representatives of the RES sector from the border regions of Haskovo, Kardzhali, Blagoevgrad and Smolyan attended the meeting thus organized. The meeting of the business council started on time in present mode. The meeting was held in the town of Simitli. The hall was technically secured, being equipped - multimedia, portable computer, printer, as well as information boards, banner and presentation materials, according to the requirements of the Communication and Publicity Guide of the Interreg V/A Greece-Bulgaria 2014-2020 program. In addition, disinfectants, protective masks, as well as water, coffee, tea were provided to ensure the coffee break of the event.

The moderator of the event welcomed all the attendees and started the event by making a short digression to introduce the new members and brief information regarding the Rules of Procedure of BS in the RES sector.

The open discussion at today's meeting was in the context of the upcoming funding under the Recovery and Resilience Plan. Bulgaria had a deadline until the middle of 2021. to change its legislation and facilitate investment in the sector, but this did not happen. Due to the delay of the changes, the EC requested the imposition of financial sanctions on Bulgaria, because energy from renewable sources is a key element of the European Green Pact.

A member of the council pointed out the fact that it was planned to ease the procedures for connecting RES up to 1MW - reducing the terms for issuing an opinion and simplifying the procedures for issuing construction permits. A question was addressed to the project management team regarding the delay in the adoption of the amendments to the Renewable Energy Law and how this will affect the upcoming National recovery and resilience plan funding measures.

The members of the business council decided that it is necessary to direct all their questions to the representatives of the local authority and to initiate round tables between the representatives of the competent authorities and the business in order to find a solution that satisfies all interested parties.
