НOn 25.02.2023 at 17:00 in the town of Simitli, a regular meeting of the Business Council concerning the Tourism sector was held in the border regions of Blagoevgrad, Haskovo, Kardzhali and Smolyan, and the activity is carried out under the project "Business Council - BC 6275" financed from the INTERREG V/A GREECE-BULGARIA 2014-2020 program, Subsidy contract No. B6.3a.18/13.04.2021.

The meeting was attended by five representatives of the Tourism Sector from the border regions of Haskovo, Kardjali, Blagoevgrad and Smolyan. The meeting of the Tourism Business Council started on time in attendance mode.

The hall was technically equipped with multimedia, a laptop computer, a printer, as well as information boards, a banner and presentation materials, according to the requirements of the Communication and Publicity Guide of the Interreg V/A Greece-Bulgaria 2014-2020 program. In addition, disinfectants were provided, as well as water, coffee and tea to ensure the event's coffee break.

The moderator of the event welcomed everyone present and started the event by making a short digression to introduce the new members and a brief information regarding the Regulations of the BS in the Tourism sector.

The members of the council started the free discussion by speaking about the forms of alternative tourism that the town of Simitli offers. Near the city is the best rafting course in Bulgaria, which attracts more and more tourists from all over the world who are looking for the best extreme experience.

More and more often, visitors to the rafting center combine the descent with the rapids on the Struma River with the various opportunities that the Simitli municipality offers.

The number of visitors to the Surva festival, which is traditionally held at the beginning of each new year in the village of Krupnik, is also increasing. The municipality of Simitli is known as the ancient land of Kukars, but not many people outside the area know the traditions and attend the festivals.

Council members unanimously expressed their opinion that the municipality's advertising is extremely weak. Only in the last few years, after the boom of social networks, more and more people are starting to rediscover Simitli as an interesting tourist destination. In this regard, it is necessary to improve the leading tourist infrastructure and invest in better advertising.

The council came up with a decision to form a round table between the representatives of the local authorities and businesses in order to find the best solution for the promotion of the tourist products that the municipality offers.
