A regular meeting of the Business Council was held in the Waste Management sector
On 03.12.2022 from 11:00 a.m. a regular meeting of the Business Council in the Waste Management sector was held in Blagoevgrad in the border regions of Blagoevgrad, Haskovo, Kardjali and Smolyan, and the activity is carried out under the project "Business Council - BC 6275" financed by the INTERREG V/A GREECE-BULGARIA 2014-2020 program, Subsidy contract No. B6.3a.18/13.04.2021 .
There were six present representatives of the sector from the border regions of Haskovo, Kardzhali, Blagoevgrad and Smolyan. The hall for holding the meeting was secured technically, being equipped - multimedia, portable computer, printer, as well as information boards, banner and presentation materials, according to the requirements of the Communication and Publicity Guide of the Interreg V/A Greece-Bulgaria 2014-2020 program .
The moderator of the event started a free-flowing discussion by asking the members present to choose an issue. One of the representatives of the sector present introduced the BS members with information about the new rules adopted by the European Parliament in October 2022. for persistent organic pollutants - toxic substances that remain unchanged in nature for a very long time and that are not easily transformed and therefore accumulate in the food chain and in living organisms contained in waste, soil, air and water and pose a threat to the environment and human health.
In this regard, the newly adopted Regulation 2022/2040 of the European Parliament and of the Council will apply from June 10, 2023 and is mandatory for all member countries.
BS came out with the opinion that a mass information campaign by the executive power will be necessary in order to have time for the companies affected by the adopted regulation to readjust their productive nature.
