A regular meeting of the Business Council was held in the Tourism sector

On 26.11.2022 from 13:00 in the city of Blagoevgrad, a regular meeting of the Business Council in the Tourism sector was held in the border regions of Blagoevgrad, Haskovo, Kardzhali and Smolyan, and the activity is carried out under the project "Business Council - BC 6275" financed by the INTERREG V/A program GREECE-BULGARIA 2014-2020, Subsidy contract No. B6.3a.18/13.04.2021.

The meeting was attended by five representatives of the Tourism Sector from the border regions of Haskovo, Kardjali, Blagoevgrad and Smolyan. The meeting of the Tourism Business Council started on time in attendance mode. The hall was technically equipped with multimedia, a laptop, a printer, as well as information boards, a banner and presentation materials, according to the requirements of the Communication and Publicity Guide of the Interreg V/A Greece-Bulgaria 2014-2020 program.

The moderator of the event welcomed everyone present by giving a brief presentation of the project idea and program, leaving a few minutes for introductions to the new members.

The members of the BS shared that after the covid crisis, the main problem now is the lack of trained personnel, especially with the start of the winter season in 2022. They shared that there is definitely an increase in the tourist flow, but due to the increased demand, it is again in the foreground the problem of lack of skilled labor.

BS members say that they still fill the numbers, but with people who are not qualified, and this leads to a lower quality of the offered tourist services.

Therefore, the BC of Tourism is of the opinion that the institutions and more specifically the territorial distribution of the labor offices and the municipalities should give the employed employees the opportunity to retrain and/or upgrade their qualifications in order to be competitive in the labor market.

The BC will draft a letter requesting information on what training programs are currently open and/or what will be open so they can apply and train.
