The waste management sector includes the collection, transport, treatment or disposal, management and control of waste materials.
The term 'waste management' generally refers to materials produced by human activity, as the process is generally carried out to reduce their impact on health, the environment or aesthetics. Waste management is a separate practice from resource recovery that focuses on reducing the rate of consumption of natural resources. All waste, whether solid, liquid, gaseous, or radioactive, is addressed by waste management.
This sector includes all representatives of waste recovery organizations as well as all individuals who hold documents to carry out waste activities. Representatives of institutions whose activities are related to waste management at both local and national level also contribute indirectly to this sector.
